Most international students need a visa to study in the UK.
If you are from an EU, EEA, or non-visa national country, and would like to study for less than 6 months, you do not need a visa.
If you are not from any of these countries or would like to study for longer than 6 months, you will have to apply for a visa.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE READY
Preparing all the documents to apply for a visa can be complicated.
Here is the list of the most important documents you need to prepare:
– a passport (with a blank page for your visa) or other valid travel document
– proof that you can support yourself during your trip (bank statements or payslips for the last 6 months).
You’ll need approximatively £1,334 per month while you will be in London to pay for your accommodation, food, transport and other expenses.
– details of where you will stay (accommodation) and your travel plans.
evidence that you’ve paid your course fees or have enough money to pay them
– proof that you’ve paid your course
– your tuberculosis (TB) test results, if you’re from a country where you have to take the TB test.
– contact details for at least one parent or guardian if you’re under 18 years old.
If you’re under 18 you need to provide additional documents if:
– you’re travelling on your own
– you’re travelling with someone who is not your parent or guardian

If your visa gets refused because you forgot to send one or more documents, you have the possibility to postpone your course for a maximum of 6 months.

SHORT-TERM STUDY VISA & STANDARD VISITOR VISA
If you want to apply for a short-term study visa or standard visitor visa, you have to:
be 16 years old or over;
be looking to study in an accredited English School;
have a letter from your English Language School in the UK to prove that you have been accepted;
have paid for your English course;
leave the UK within 30 days after the end of your course (and not stay longer than 11 months);
