Top Five Things to Do in London during Pride Month

Pride Month has now officially begun. Every year, Pride Month is held throughout the entire month of June to commemorate the Stonewall Riots and raise awareness of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Different organisations and companies around London host various events where you can learn more about the history of Pride in the United Kingdom or participate to get to know more about the LGBTQIA+ community.

Here are the top five activities in London that you can attend during Pride Month:

The Pride Parade 

Pride in London, the organisation behind London Pride, organises a parade that will take place on Saturday 29 June 2024. Traditionally, the parade begins at 12:00 in Hyde Park and goes all the way to Whitehall Place, finishing at around 18:00. You can stand along the parade route to watch the floats go down the street and cheer the groups on, or you have the option of booking a comfortable seat at Haymarket for up to £60 here.

In addition to the parade, various stages for cabaret, drag or karaoke performances are set up near each main tourist attraction. The one closest to Speak Up London’s location is on Dean Street.

The parade attracts 1.5 million visitors every year. It’s a fun opportunity to socialise with your friends and learn more about why it’s so important to celebrate Pride!

British Museum Exhibition: ‘Desire, Love, Identity: Exploring LGBTQ Histories’

If the crowds at the parade are too much for you, consider visiting the British Museum’s exhibition “Desire, Love, Identity: Exploring LGBTQ Histories”.

From 9 June 2024 to 29 June 2024, the British Museum is offering a 70-minute guided tour to help visitors see some of their art collection in a new light, sharing the interesting stories behind each object and piece. The objects and pieces range from the ancient world – think Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, or Mesopotamia – through to the 21st century.

Museum: Queer Britain

If you’re looking for a museum that will teach you more about the LGBTQIA+ movement, give Queer Britain a chance!

The museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday each week, from 12:00 to 18:00, and is based in Granary Square near King’s Cross station. A visit should take you about 40 minutes. It showcases art, culture, and social history from the last 50+ years.

Drag Brunch at Between the Bridges (18+)

On 29 June 2024, enjoy bottomless prosecco for one hour from 12:00, with performances from Drag Race UK star Tayce and resident queen Miss Leigh Ding that will have you dancing to party music in no time! Doors open at 11:30.

Ticket prices start at £25, which include a seat at the venue and entry to the bottomless brunch. Food is not included, but there are many street vendors nearby selling amazing food from all over the world.

The Grand’s Pride After Party (18+)

Join other partygoers to celebrate the end of Pride Month with a DJ set packed with the best Pride, pop, and R&B music. The party starts at 21:00 at the Clapham Grand and will be headlined by BRIT-nominated artist, producer and Drag Race UK star MNEK.

The venue promises a fun night to remember with confetti cannons, balloon drops, a stage bar for you to dance on, gogo dancers, and performances by other artists who are yet to be announced.
