Who is this course for?
This course is for you if you want to communicate more clearly. It will help you understand the features of English pronunciation that can make it difficult to participate in conversations or to speak in front of an audience.
Pronunciation problems can be embarrassing and stop students from wanting to talk, but this course will give you the opportunity to practise the sounds and features of pronunciation that are difficult for you so you can express yourself with more confidence.
You can book this class as a standalone course or as an add-on to our General English classes.
- Entry level: B1 Intermediate and above (mixed-level class)
- Course Length: Minimum 1 week
- Class Time & Frequency:
- 4.30-5.30 pm x 5 days a week (Monday to Friday)
- 6.00-7.00 pm x 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday)
- Class Duration: 1 hour
- Class Size: Average 10 / Maximum 16
- Minimum Age: 16 y.o.
- Location: In person, on Oxford Street
Our Approach
In our classes we use the Communicative Approach, which most experts think is the best way to teach English. The teacher will present pronunciation features in natural contexts, so you will get a clear idea of how to use them in real situations. You will practise the features you learn so you gain more confidence, and then use them in speaking activities with your classmates. The teacher will give you feedback to help you improve.
Course Materials:
On this course we don’t have a fixed coursebook but we will use a range of materials from Pearson, Macmillan, Oxford University Press and National Geographic. Our teachers supplement them with authentic materials depending on the lesson focus.
What will you achieve?
This course is very practical. It will prepare you to communicate more confidently whenever you have to speak. You will improve your understanding of what other people may say to you, and will learn how to respond more clearly.
By the end of the course, you will:
- Learn and practise the vowel and consonant sounds we use in English
- Learn and practise the rules of stress and intonation
- Be more aware of the features of connected speech that can make spoken English difficult to understand, and practise using them yourself
- Sound more natural in English
- Become a more confident and effective communicator
