I can’t say I agree. English is used for practical reasons by non-native speakers – but this in no way influences native speakers.
What is interesting is that native speakers will often speak in a slightly different way to each other; they will include more idiomatic language and cultural references.
What may happen is that two dialects of English emerge – a ‘public’ version which is simple and pragmatic, and a ‘private’ version only used by native speakers.
In any case, language development is an organic and democratic process, so perhaps we should just relax about it.
